Bolton is a massive town in Greater Manchester, in the North West of England being only 10 miles North West of the City of Manchester and only 25 miles from the City of Liverpool. Bolton is surrounded by several smaller towns and villages which together form the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton. The town of Bolton has a population of over 139,000 although metropolitan borough has a population of over 262,000. Bolton has been tipped to become a City status.

Bolton is a part of Lancashire and originated as a small settlement in the moorland known as Bolton le Moors. Bolton was a former mill town and has been a production centre for textiles since Flemish weavers settled in the area during the 15th century, developing a wool and cotton weaving tradition.

Bolton has a Premier League football club Bolton Wanderers who play their home games at the Reebok Stadium. In addition, Amir Khan the WBA World light-welterweight champion was born in the town of Bolton and today encourages the youth of Bolton to attend his boxing club. Bolton has several notable cultural aspects, including The Octagon Theatre and the Bolton Museum and Art Gallery, as well as one of the earliest public libraries established after the Public Libraries Act 1850.

The City centre of Bolton has excellent direct motorway links with both the M6 and M62. In addition, both the train and bus station in the city centre with only a 15 minute journey to the centre of Manchester and 20 minutes to the centre of Liverpool.

Bolton University has a student body of around 13,000. The quality teaching has consistently won the highest ratings possible from the Government's quality control agency and have professional accreditation for more than 30 teaching programmes. Bolton University is only a five minute walk to the central train and bus station. Although there is a modern, compact campus there is investment opportunity with city centre student accommodation being built.
