Murcia is a province of Spain located on the south east coast of the country; it has a population of 1,424,063. Murcia covers an area of 11,313 square km. The geography of the region has a variation, ranging from mountains and plains to beaches and woodlands, semi-arid and irrigated lands. A third of Murcia is over two thousand feet above sea level and the highest mountain in Murcia is at six and a half thousand feet. Murcia has over one hundred miles of coastline. The one thing that is constant is the sun – nearly three thousand hours a year which makes Murcia a region that tourists are slowly catching on to and becoming a popular destination for investors.

The economy of Murcia is mainly based on agricultural products; it is common to find Murcia's tomatoes and lettuce, and especially lemons and oranges. Murcia is also a producer of wines. Many British and American companies have chosen Murcia as a location for satellite factories, such companies are Henry Milward & Sons and American firms like General Electric and Paramount Park Studios.

In recent years, the economy of the region has turned towards "residential tourism" where people are buying their second home either for themselves or for the buy to let to holiday market.

Murcia’s economy is supported by fairs and congresses, museums, theatres, cinema, music, aquariums, bullfighting, restaurants, hotels, camping, sports, foreign students, and tourism.

Murcia has previously been ruled by many historic civilisations, the first major one being the Carthaginians, followed by the Romans and then the Moors who were evicted from the region by Ferdinand III of Castile. Each ruling civilisation left behind their own unique piece of history, such examples are the Roman theatre, Cartagena, the many Cathedrals, and castles.

The main airport is Murcia-San Javier Airport and located close to the town of San Javier, which is 45 kilometres southeast of Murcia City. There is also an airport at the nearby city of Alicante which is 70 kilometres from Murcia. There is a new airport under construction located in the town of Corvera, 23 km from the city of Murcia. The new International airport of the Region of Murcia will be privately owned, and be directed mainly at low-cost airlines. There has never been a better time to purchase property in Murcia.
